The following animations are part of the training and education effort at ForceBeyond to offer our best services to our customers.

Investment Casting Animation

Investment casting includes the following steps:

  • Parts are first molded in wax
  • The runner is moved and multiple parts are attached to a wax runner
  • The wax parts are dipped in a wet ceramic slurry. The “mold” become thicker and thicker
  • After drying, the wax is removed leaving the ceramic mold
  • The ceramic mold is then heated to a temperature of around 1,000 C
  • Molten metal is then poured into the hot ceramic mold
  • Wait until the mold cools
  • The ceramic mold is then broken by vibration
  • Individual parts are cut from the runner
  • Now we have accurate parts

  • Die casting tools placed on machine
  • Die casting mold is closed
  • Molten metal (aluminum, zinc etc.) flows into injection barrel
  • Molten metal forced from barrel into mold
  • Molten metal cools in mold
  • Mold opens
  • Pins eject molded parts from mold
  • Ejected sprue is removed from the two cavities
  • Two cavities completed

Sand Casting Animation

Sand casting includes the following steps:

  • Patterns are made for the top and bottom halves. Feeds and risers are added to one of the patterns
  • Metal or wooden sand boxes are placed on the patterns
  • Casting sand is poured into the sand boxes
  • The sand is compacted
  • The sand boxes are turned upside down
  • The patterns are removed
  • The feed side box is placed on top of the bottom box
  • Molten metal is poured into feed hole
  • The metal solidifies and cools
  • The top sand box is removed
  • The part with the feed is removed
  • The feeds are cut off
  • Finished cast part
